Guys, back in my day we didn’t need money or a car!! I use to ride the trolley cart out to Coorongabool, buy a malt shake at the diner and take my sweetheart out to pictures for change on a dime!! Damn kids, don’t understand a good days work.

  • 10-January-2017 at 1:30 am

Haha. Fair enough. Being a small business owner that shuts down for 3 weeks over this time of year, it is a little cash flow tough to just grab a gorilla out of my pocket. Like most people with kids and grand kids it is a very expensive time of year. But I tell you what, I will give you a monkey if you go ahead with this trip. That is $500, which according to your calculations is over half the money. I have no interest in the production of the video but would love a copy when it comes out.

I understand you being a little miffed considering your generosity and I do apologize for my frankness. Being Lucas’s dads car I can understand being a little bit more conservative than if it were your car so that was a fair point.

I truely hope the $500 I will put on the table will be enough to make this happen because it is fair to say I was really excited about this project. Pity Lucas can’t be part of it.

Hey Dave.. a lover of enterprise and initiative myself, and.. in the spirit of ‘truth’, if you are genuine, and sincere with your gifting, then I will match your $500 !

      • 10-January-2017 at 3:18 pm

Thanks for you support to get this up and going. No excuses now.

      • 10-January-2017 at 4:26 pm

JLB informs me you have come good with your pledge on your side, so to have I. This is happening.

    • 10-January-2017 at 9:17 am

A “monkey”, now that is showing your age! Im typing this from my day job. Excited by the change of events, a bit sad that I cant be wingman.

      • 10-January-2017 at 3:20 pm

You looked like you were coming down with something on the video last night. Nothing serious but Dr Dave suggests 5 working days off work. Is there any way you can still get involved?

        • 10-January-2017 at 4:21 pm

Haha, good call. I would love to, but I have my 2 kids (aged 2 and 4) returning to me on Thursday. Early vids showed some of their dino work. The dinos on the dash where their toys too.

          • 10-January-2017 at 4:29 pm

Bitter sweet feelings here. Hopefully you and JLB can team up down the track. My dad lives in Brisbane. When I am next up there I will teach you how to play NL Poker.

Now I just got off the Wicked van rental sight in Brisbane. For less than $400 you can get a camper van ( no accomodation charges ) for 5 days.

    • 10-January-2017 at 9:19 am

Good thinking, could be an option. My only hesitation on Wicked vans is they are old pieces of… Id hate to have another mechanical failure on Johno. I’ve got a swag down stairs for Johno to use. He can just unroll at any rest stop west of the range.

Much enjoyed this counterpunch in what’s become a bit of a sparring match!

Calling others to task for their uncalculated comments – pun intended – may just be the catalyst which opens up the wallets, getting you right back on your way to Winton!

Can’t piss in the tall weed with the big dogs Dave if you don’t have capital reserves : )

I’ll throw a hundo towards the production.

Not my call, but I really don’t care if it’s budgeted for beer.

Such interstitials add spirit and provide bonus behind the scenes entertainment.

And while debunking dinos are the chief objective of the project, it would be a most welcome ancillary benefit to explore the taxonomy of Aussie women en route.

I’ve always thought the fairer kind may hold the master key to unlocking the ‘lie system’ … as it is their judgments of what is and isn’t important that governs much of our collective behavior.

Would ordinarily contribute more, but in a bit of cash flow crunch at the moment myself. I’ll be more flush in a few months.
Perhaps a second round of funding can help with digital distribution once final cut is complete.

So to anyone here on the fence, from primary experience, it is not easy task to raise money for an independent production, even when they offer potential profits for its financiers.

All the more difficult for artists in the intellectual rebellion, catering to a much smaller audience, whose motivations (at least mine) are largely immaterial.

Don’t have high hopes it’ll make a dent in the establishment’s armor, nor have much impact with normies, but if we don’t support those making a go of it in the field, monetarily or motivationally, what’s the point in even pretending anything will change?

Snowed in right now, but before the 11th, I’ll add to the now (hopefully if people
    don’t welch) growing pot.

    • 10-January-2017 at 3:22 pm

Thanks for your support metajlb in making this exciting project a reality.

    • 11-January-2017 at 5:39 pm

Thanks for your kind words and the offer of support. I also do not have any hopes that this project will ‘harm the establishment’; it seems to me that TPWRTS have nothing to fear from the occasional skeptic who sees through their magic tricks. In the children’s tale it takes only one young person to point out that the emperor has no clothes before the whole town admits they see no robe either — the reality today is that the average person is far too blind to notice one way or another. As for the froffies, I am torn: alcohol slows the brain and fattens the belly, but the interview with Billy was a highlight which would not have come about without Lucas and I grabbing a beer (or ten)…

  • 10-January-2017 at 9:37 am

Words cannot express how disappointed I feel for you and Lucas.

The “Wicked van rental” sounds better than a car considering it is your accommodation as well. I’ll be interested to see where this goes.

By the way, it was nice to see Lindsay looking so well. When I was in Brisbane to check you guys out (ARP) in 2015, Lindsay let me park my camper in his backyard where I stayed for a couple of weeks. He is one of the most accommodating, generous, intelligent man you will meet. I got to see you guys in action while you were doing a show :). I made the coffee and the biscuits. You (JBL), Nathan and Lindsay are a great bunch of Aussie guys, I’m so glad I met you.

    • 11-January-2017 at 5:33 pm

Lindsay was looking terrific, and in a lot better shape than when I stayed at his place August-September of 2016. He has more time to take care of himself now that he is in Toowoomba and it is showing. We should get plenty more years of Silverfox material out of him yet!

No need to feel sorry for Lucas and I. Dinoskeptics is back on (thanks to Miss Ali and Dave), and even though Lucas can’t be there ‘on location’ for this one, if I do a good enough job with Dinoskeptics #1, there may be more on the horizon. Also, never feel sorry for Lucas, the dude has his own man-cave with a poker table and a fridge full of beer – he’ll be doing just fine ūüôā

  • 10-January-2017 at 11:57 am

My word I am serious about my offer. Thanks for the backup Miss Ali.

JLB, email me your details and I will complete the transaction when I get home tonight.

    • 11-January-2017 at 5:27 pm

Big thanks to Dave and Miss Ali, who are both going down in history as the Executive Producers of the first known gonzo journalism film dedicated to genuinely questioning paleontology (that I know of, anyway). Third parties could fairly describe me as being biased, and I would not try to argue with them, but I have a sneaking suspicion this will be money well spent. Time will tell.

  • 11-January-2017 at 4:09 am

Earlier I had shared the Dino page with another group to encourage contributions.

Upon doing so, I noticed they were no longer being accepted.

In light of this, I don’t want to be obtrusive or assumptive as per my last comment, but if there is a re-opening of the till on top of the 1k, I’m happy to send a few shekels of support.

I know first hand how quickly costs can accumulate no matter how frugal / resourceful someone is.

  • 11-January-2017 at 10:58 am

If you still want to donate, just send paypal to John’s email johnlebon123@gmail.com. I reckon John would be helicoptered in and out and 5 star hotel service if we got creationists and fundamental Christians, most of whom have an axe to grind with modern science, to donate to this worthy cause ūüėČ

    • 11-January-2017 at 5:20 pm

Yep, I’m pretty sure anybody can send through contributions if they simply use that email address. My plan is to include all Full Members in the credits, and give special thanks to those who send through anything above and beyond their usual $5/week. All Full Members will obviously get access to digital distribution of the final film, and those who send through $50 or more will get a physical copy of the DVD as well. So far that means Miss Ali, Dave, Jon S, ___ (awaiting permission to give them credit), and ‘MetaJLB’ will all be receiving a physical copy.

That reminds me: I want to give credit (and shout-outs) to all Full Members for their support as well, so if you read this, please send me an email to notify what name ought to be given credit. You can use your legal identity, youtube/google handle, some other pseudonym, whatever you like. Just be sure to choose something you will still want to be in the credits in 10 or 20 years – because it will be!

    • 11-January-2017 at 5:33 pm

JLB is finalising logistical details with The Honourable Sussan Ley.

  • 12-January-2017 at 8:12 am

    Let’s get Lucas to Winton.

I have not run this by either JLB or Lucas, but JLB said that Lucas went as far as looking at airfares to get himself there for a day or two.

I could not find anything going to Winton but found flights going to Longreach. It is pretty expensive hence maybe why he perished the thought. There would not be much change from 1K.

Let’s see if we can get enough pledges on here to either pay for the flight or make it a tad more tempting for Lucas to consider getting there.

I will kick this off and pledge $100 to the cause. Every little bit may help.

  • 12-January-2017 at 12:03 pm

Great work Dave, and miss ali. My gratitude to the both of you for stepping up in a big way. Look what just a few people can achieve when they put their heart in the right place. Just imagine the kind of changes that could be made if we, the people, were to vote more often with our dollar.

I will match your pledge Dave. And let me say…not only will it be more fun, but it will be much easier to ask questions to the scientists and locals, while his mate films. Trying to run a camera, microphone, drone, etc, by yourself, and conduct an interview, will have its limitations.
Besides, how can this documentary be completed without Lucas-film? ūüėČ

  • 12-January-2017 at 1:31 pm

I spoke to my shifty accountant and he informed me that the $100 metajlb has put on the table can fit into this column. So we are now at $300. Thanks for getting on board Canadian bacon. I agree with you totally, this will be a better production with Lucus involved at Winton.

Just imagine folks. Two young men. One swag. Brokeback Mountain here we cum.

    • 13-January-2017 at 7:12 am

the only broken backs i’d like to see are the purported dino spines for purposes of examining their interiors. and hopefully we’ll be treated to real time ‘carbon dating’ instruction from those clowns masquerading as paleontologists.

i share the concerns of Canadian Bacon for JLB’s production assistance / assistan(ts) needs while setting up shots, conducting interviews etc… but i trust he knows how to find freelance talent or will use his persuasive powers to get volunteers on the road.

or perhaps this abrupt shock to the production plans will trigger an Australian New Wave film style, resulting in a tour de force with international acclaim!

      time will tell : )

  • 12-January-2017 at 5:55 pm

Shit, I had no idea this had taken a turn.. I logged in to see how the trip went.
Agreed with the above comments. JLB can’t do this on his own. If I can help with encouraging Lucas along, I’d be happy to chip in.. Moreover, I’d love to join the trip and help out physically but that may be hard from sunny England.. If another 100 help get Lucas to help John complete the mission, then it’s well worth it..
I will email you later John regarding helping out on the post production side of things also.. I would love to supply the musical soundtrack / score to what you produce.
All the best.. whats the latest?

Wow, Im really touched at the offers! But for now, this adventure for me is on hold. My kids (2 & 4) have just arrived back home after visiting their Grandparents for Christmas overseas. This weekend for me will be hitting the beach and being a dad with them. Might even sneak in a trip to the Brisbane museum!

As much as I’d love to continue the production with JLB, the little ones come first. Just to rub salt into the wound, this little gem was announced at Richmond today. About an hour north of Winton. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-01-12/tourists-discover-lizardfish-fossil-richmond/8064516

  • 14-January-2017 at 4:42 am

That’s a pity Lucas. Although getting to Winton would have been great, I suspect the real story may not be there.

There are a lot of items in possession of both museums and art galleries that are not displayed to the public. My bet is that meteorite that David Elliott discovered was in actual fact found in The Queensland Museum basement and placed on David Elliott’s land. Just to be handed back to the Museum. It has money laundering written all over it.

I can’t wait to see which way JLB goes with this because this has the potential to be huge. And I am talking mainstream media huge.

I am looking forward to this ‘film’..

..and just this subject matter alone, is in reality, deeply pivotal to an entirely different ‘reality’ and one that is most aptly conveyed to us, by Christof, in the opening scene of ‘The Truman Show’..

“We’ve become bored with actors giving us phony emotions.. we’re tired of pyrotechnics and special effects.. while the world he inhabits, in some respects, ‘is’ counterfeit.. there’s nothing ‘fake’ about Truman ‘himself’.. no scripts, no cue cards.. it isn’t always Shakespeare, but it’s genuine.. it’s a life.. !”
