last July i (maybe foolishly) took over the first floor unit in my (two story) building because i didn’t want to hear or deal with any new neighbors. the prior one was neurotic, but old and relatively mute. i didn’t even want that again, but certainly didn’t want to risk living above anyone loud, let alone with more than one person or pet. the units aren’t soundproof.
and now I have a pretty serious dilemna on my hands, with a municipality that puts extreme fines on airbnbs, a unit to furnish (not cheap). and even if i do it ‘underground’ / ‘offline’, it’s likely going to operate at a loss going into slow season here.
but even if I can fully cover costs or make a few shekels…i don’t even want to deal with short term neighbors.
in short, i’m paying close to double my rent for peace and quiet below me, which I thought would pay off, but thus far it has not.
so while i do have quiet, i’m not quite at peace.

as for other neighbors past + present, i’ve had some good experiences, and some not so good experiences, both in residential and commercial environments. it depends on proximity and noise levels, but i usually keep the stop and chats to a minimum. i’ve long tried to avoid unnecessary interactions, even if i know the person and get along decently with them. my mom used to tell me it was like a CIA mission going to the supermarket or department store, as I would dodge aisles or duck below car dashboards to not cross paths or lines of sight with acquaintances on the outer periphery of my social sphere.
*for someone who says they’d rather watch paint dry for two hours than talk about flat earth (or something like this, I only heard 15 minutes of this on the LiveStream), one sure does – ‘a decade later’ – still spend an inordinate amount of time talking about flat earth(ers)

If you give the episode a proper listen, you’ll see that my commentary on FE in this episode was in response to the livestream chat, and the caller-in.
Think about that for a moment.
sure. and i didn’t hear that call, and if that’s what they did, they were clearly in the wrong.
but you’re still continually talking about not wanting to talk about FE. why FEers still talk about FE. why you can’t be bothered. why it’s potentially why people don’t engage with your content as much. why FE this, why FE that.
in short, you spend an inordinate amount of time talking about a subject (and its subjectees?) – directly or indirectly – for which you allegedly have no time for.
seems like a case of maladaptive nostalgia. perhaps due to some of the bullshit / doxxing some of them put you through?
if so, that’s understandable, I would likely hold a lot of resentment toward an individual or group who advocated such an encroachment of personal privacy.
but perhaps it’s also time to ‘move on’ – as much as it’s time for FEers to ‘move on’ from their falsifiable models.
if that’s what they did, they were clearly in the wrong.
How were they in the wrong?
The commenters and callers-in can bring up whatever topic they like (and I can mock whatever topic I like in response).
Up to and including FE mind virus, tr4nsvestigation mind virus, ‘all sports are rigged mind virus, and so forth.

FE offered you hope when you needed it, and in ten years since, you haven’t been able to accept that those FE folks conned you good.

wrong again. i never gave a penny to any of the ‘charlatans’ you decry. nor subscribed to any of their models. nor ever had ‘hope’ or ‘faith’ in any ‘movement’ they may have bamboozled others into.
but feel free to continue playing that refrain in your mind (and onto the screen) every time someone dares to disagree with you.
whatever works.
i for one, still don’t think any Plovdivian could dig deep enough to eventually reach the bottom of the south pacific waters (as would be the case if we live on a ball consistent with said flight paths around the earth)
but not once has any ball believer offered a reasonable response to this logical inference, other than lame reductio ad ridiculum.
same hunch from days of cap’n crunch does not mean i’m in any way affiliated with flat earth or ‘flat earthers’.

yes it should not have been shocking that Awake Souls channel (unlistenable imo) would steer the conversation toward FE – whether to try to convince you, convince themselves, fodder for the audience, all of the above…

the time vs money value mantra is not always obvious. i pay for people’s ‘priceless’ time all the time. as do others mine. there’ve been times i’ve been willing to trade a lot of my time for not a lot of money. other times i wouldn’t get out of bed for 10x that prior amount and for 1/10th the time. it ebbs and flows.
but as to your assumption, i’d say around 200 hours of videos / audios / reading (including your own work) – and whatever add-ons one might calculate for comments like this.

i didn’t realize i was parroting anyone else. i recall this same point being discussed in 4th grade AG Science class when Mr. Wilson was explaining to us the wonders of gravity while we made model spaceship landers out of straws. i ‘accepted it’, but innately rejected it.

one silver lining is that ‘defense’ of anything orbiting FE, even on the outer periphery, is the most surefire way to get a reply to a comment!

Just as I do not believe you or I or anybody else ‘can’ dig 10 miles down, then thousands of miles in a straight line parallel to sea level, then 10 miles up, and arrive at some new place or country.
Regardless of Flat Earth or otherwise, none of us are doing any digging, so it is a moot point.
It is all in your imagination, it isn’t real.
Whereas the flights and lights in the sky, they are real, not just imaginations.

maybe it can – on something the size of the earth. but until we can actually observe it, it’s rhetoric and / or appeals to models.
when i was in grade school, and thought it was ridiculous that we could dig a hole deep enough and find Chinese people on the other side… was I parroting anyone?
no. my senses told me it didn’t make sense.
and maybe i was wrong!
but appeals to ridicule are white noise.
is something else going on? probably. but i’d be interested in talking about THOSE possibilities rather than the same ole tired ‘FE vs Ball’ binaries.
OR – table the topic and let’s move on to something more productive. there’s so many more interesting and more pragmatic things to discuss than the shape of the earth.
Just to be clear, my above comment was one of my lame attempts at adding levity to (what seemed to me to be) a somewhat heated back and forth.

it’s not that serious, though.. i don’t give a flying f… about David Weiss or Urine Drinking Dave or any of ‘them’ – which appears to be an ongoing presupposition. and i’m not a ‘FEer’ — despite the accusations. i find prima facie problems with the ball, regardless of whether it’s a useful map. it makes little difference to my day to day life if that is in fact the structure of the terrain we walk on (or around or upside down relative to one another : )
I didn’t even know this Midnight Sun thing was an issue until that charlatan who takes money from his congregation in exchange for lies (maybe he’ll engage with JLB’s History Hoax material and stop spreading the word? i doubt it) was introduced here.
in closing, if the topic is indeed a ‘waste of time’ ‘stupid’ et al…. than why not kibosh it? Realty Sceptic for example – over 50% of what may have been his last ever publicly recorded call – was spent rehashing the same old same old that continually resurfaces, mostly ad homs toward a handful of people who don’t ultimately matter. because what and who are they hustling? a few thousand bucks? some gullible people who want to think they’re going to someday do a mass expose?
this is child’s play to the far more serious and sinister deceivers.

as for whether I’ve ever parroted things, yes, I have. and I wrote about this a few months ago here. however, i don’t think me saying water doesn’t stick to a ball is parroting Eric Dubay or (insert FEer). has any experiment been done to demonstrate that it can under xyz conditions? no. hence the snarky scoffing is unwarranted.
perhaps some form of magnetism adheres the oceans to the earth. or super duper surface tension. or something else? i’m all ears and enjoy listening / reading ideas and arguments wherever they lead.
I suppose one thing that wasn’t brought up in this show that should not be understated is the demographics of people’s neighbours 40 years ago and today. Perhaps in the 90s even your neighbours were people of similar ages, who perhaps had kids of similar ages, they had similar interests etc. Well now, in a lot of the suburban areas of the ‘western world’, there’s a good chance your neighbour is covered in hijab, or talking on the phone in Hindi, or a recent Chinese migrant, etc.
As much as I agree with the fact that people in general have worse social skills than previous generations, I do think these demographic shifts have contributed to the atomisation we now see.
Yes, you make a good point. It leads me to wonder what kind of neighborliness / ‘social capital’ changes have occurred in places like Plovdiv, for example, which is still relatively homogenous in terms of racial / ethnic profile. If I put my mind to it, I might be able to find some stats, if not from Plovdiv specifically, then at least from the Balkan region. My guess is that there has also been a loss of neighborliness in these areas but nowhere near as bad as the mass immigration affected western countries / cities.

the flights purportedly fly around on a ball earth. on that very model, if one were to dig down deep enough, you will eventually come out the other side. that is in fact the model that American Airlines, Qantas, Air China, et al are using. and for which most of the pilots and aeronautical engineers would affirm. are you denying this ball model which all the flights taking off and landing this very day are predicated upon? or – in your mind – do you have another ball – with the same flight paths going North South East West and round the globe – that does not infer said ability to dig through the Earth’s core and out the other side, assuming one had the instruments to do so.
i don’t walk on or swim in the sky. but i have dug ditches (too many) and duck dived into waves across several oceans. and i hope to do the latter in many more.

I would wager a considerable sum that it has, if there were some ‘objective’ accountant of ‘time and energy’. but more important, what we know for certain is that the subject and subject(ees?) still triggers / upsets you all these years later.
what other topic commands so many insta-replies (on jlb.com) intraday? from merely a side observation? for such a “stupid” “waste of time” subject, with “brainwashed” “retards” who still fiddle with it, it still finds itself brimming to the surface on countless videos – even those – solo or with a guest – which have absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

'If' is they key word here.
Neither you, nor me, nor anybody else, is ever digging down into the earth to see what (if anything) is on the 'other side'.
Which is to say that this isn't evidence.
We do however have evidence in terms of the flights, and the lights in the sky, which perfectly fit a ball model.
The flights are real. The lights in the sky are real.
People can take the flights, they can observe and track the lights.
The ball model can account for these real things.
No FE 'map' or 'model' can do so, for the obvious reason being that FE is a load of obvious bullshit.
It's that simple.

but trying to be more productive as I’m not ‘defending FE’ – i’m curious what you think ‘it’ / ‘earth’ could be – if it is not a ball?
sure ‘earth shape’ – but i’m genuinely curious if there are any other options you’ve envisioned, where it can give all the appearances of being a ball (e.g the flight paths), but it’s not actually a ball.
